Mrs. Stingley's Beekeeping Box: A TS3 Conversion

Using Gwenke’s Harvestable Beehive as a base, I’ve converted Mrs. Stingley’s Beekeeping Box from TS3 Supernatural to the Sims 2.

Included is one bumblebee-esque recolor as well as the files needed to harvest and consume or sell the honey. The additional, required files were not changed from Gwenke’s originals. Please read about the capabilities of the beehives at Sims2Artists.com.

Mrs. Stingley’s Beekeeping Box has it’s own unique GUID, and should not conflict with Gwenke’s version. It is §270 and located in the gardening section of the build mode catalog, just as Gwenke’s is. Requires Seasons EP because of actions involved.

I hope to switch the tool to something more appropriate, like the TS3 smoker, and the jars to the honey bears from TS3, but I am struggling with this.

Please let me know if you have any issues with this! This is my first jointed item and my base object had serious BHAV mods, so if anything goes wrong, I want to know so I can try to fix it. It has been playtested, but things go wrong regardless.

I love this conversion, but before I download I have a question: does this use the normal version of the beehive or the version with less energy drop?
untidyfanuntidyfan on June 20th, 2013 11:50 pm (UTC)
I thought I had used the one with the lower energy drop, but I double-checked and discovered it is not.

I updated the version to be less tiring: Download

You'll still need to download the original .zip for the additional files. Let this file overwrite the original. It has the same GUID.

You can change the values to whatever you like using this tutorial:

Thank you ^^

Thank you for sharing this conversion! :) I miss the beehive and honey from TS1, so your latest download is inspiring me to try a little beekeeping in TS2!

Also, I'll be rooting for the smoker and the honey-bear jars. Good luck with adding them to the files!

I love this added bit of gameplay Gwenke made (She's got harvestable Castaways plants, too). Glad you like it!

I get so happy when someone converts a fantastic ts3 mesh! But then you took it a step further and made it functional! I'm so impressed and excited and thankful, it's really cute and congratulations (I have a feeling you learned a LOT of new stuff while doing this) :D

I ran across Gwenke's beehive on the hunt for the TS3 conversion (I still think I've seen it somewhere else). The idea was too irrestible.

I learned a few new things, but mostly how to stand on the shoulders of giants when it comes to joints. The hard work had already been done for me.

You're welcome! Enjoy!

This is great...thank you! Love the thought of random deaths and always love seeing items from the Sims 3 make their way to the Sims 2. :)

Thank you for all the kind words! Enjoy it!

Thank you for this, it's great to have more things that sims can interact with.
So, TS3 has beekeeping, who would have thought.
I'll be happy to help with changing the accessory meshes if needed.
untidyfanuntidyfan on June 22nd, 2013 11:57 pm (UTC)
That would be super, Gwenke! I'd love to work with you on the accessories. And thank you for having such a generous policy!

This is my third beehive since Gwenke's, and I'm so stupidly happy to have them. Thank you so much! These are great for Medieval games. (The only thing that could improve them is having Anger Bees result in Chased By Bees rather than Death By Flies, but that makes 'em need Seasons or higher.)
untidyfanuntidyfan on June 29th, 2013 06:00 pm (UTC)
So glad you like it! And there are more beehives? Must find them! I love the whole concept of beekeeping for the Sims, so the more, the merrier.

The harvest capability requires Seasons as well, so EP would be no issue. Being chased by bees is a serious drain on motives, so Sims *could* accidentally die from it, right? Hmm...
Almighty Hathat_plays_sims on June 30th, 2013 05:58 am (UTC)
Well, so far, I know of yours, Sunni's, and Gwenke's, so you're only short one version. Beekeeping is one of the things I really missed from Makin' Magic, so pretty much any hive I see, I download.

It could lead to death, but it's less likely to... but there are bees involved, not flies. I always wondered why the bees kept fly assassins in the hive.

I didn't know of Gwenke's beehive, so beekeeping for Sims is a whole new world for me. Many thanks for a fantastic conversion!
untidyfanuntidyfan on June 29th, 2013 06:04 pm (UTC)
I just recently discovered Gwenke's myself - I was on the hunt for this conversion as a deco object, actually. It's a fun addition to the game. My farmers have bees! Eee!

Gwenke also modded the Castaway coconut, papaya, and banana trees to be harvestable, too. So very cool. http://sims2artists.com/index.php?topic=3053.0

So that's where the banana tree in Azaya's Fritter legacy came from! :D

Wow, this is amazing. I'm always looking longingly at all the gardening objects they have in TS3 and wishing we'd have even half of them for TS2, and then you went ahead and made this!

I'm not sure I can help with the accessories part, but Klinny's tutorial on cloning new pets for the wombat cage might be useful. (http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=230621) From what I've read it deals with replacing accessories for cloned objects, but it might be a different process for CC.

untidyfan: annwn butterfliesuntidyfan on February 19th, 2015 12:10 am (UTC)
Re: bee box
It's located in build/garden section of your TS2 catalog. You don't have to buy it in the TS3 store or even have TS3. I believe I did extract it from supernatural, though.

Not the pictured mesh?!
When I downloaded the files there is no beehive skep as pictured from TS3. It's just the original or gwenkes box, not the tiered version with a roof. I am disappoint.

The link is down! D:
Hi! Thank you so much for this! I've had it in my game for several years and it plays a significant part with one of my favorite households but unfortunately due to a computer issue I lost several files including this item from my Downloads folder. As a result, my Sim family's apiary has been reduced to several lines of gas grills surrounded by flowers! I tried to re-download it from your page but when I click download I'm taken to a GoDaddy page saying the domain expired on 5/14/2018 and is pending renewal or deletion. By any chance are you planning to put the page back up?

Re: The link is down! D:
Hi! I'm going to work on reuploading my content, starting with this beehive after I check it in TS2 for bugs (not bees :( )
