BaCC: The Duddledom Family, Week Six

Serio Duddledom was hard at work, digging up treasures so he could afford his dream of owning a pet shop.

Little did he know, or remember, that his new adoptive child was arriving that day. It was quite a surprise to see the social worker's van pull up that morning.

The little boy, named Brandon, was timid at first. He was a cute kid, with big brown eyes and freckles across his nose.

It looked like he'd fit right in with Duddledoms.

Brandon was also a precocious businessman. His lemonade stand attracted every person who walked by the house!

Soon, Cassidy was showing her baby bump. There wasn't any fear that Brandon will feel displaced, despite all the puppies and incoming baby, since both Cassidy and Serio wanted at least six kids. Their primary goal was to provide a loving home to every child and animal they could.

Brandon was able to quickly cultivate friendships with all his new classmates. His best friend was Hunter Fisker-Ray. Those two boys were inseparable.

Late one night, Serio found what he had been looking for: treasure! This gave him all the money he needed to buy that commercial building he'd been eyeing, plus a little left over for the new baby.

Not a moment too soon, either, since Cassidy gave birth seconds later.

Welcome little Nicola Livingston!

Serio and Cassidy agreed that all the adoptive children would have his last name, and all of their biological kids would take hers. After all, she did most of the work when it came to the latter.

The next morning, Serio took advantage of Cassidy's maternity leave and held the grand opening of Duddledom's Darlings. It was going to be the best pet shop New Jennerica had ever seen!

It seemed to be a rousing success right away. Either that or the local businesswomen were just checking out the competition.

Serio took Zipper along with the hope that he might sell him, but Zipper turned out to be a great mascot.

The staff were allowed to wear either costumes or pet-themed clothing of their own choice.

Sullivan chose to display his inner crazy cat lady.

Whereas William opted for the supplied work uniform. He didn't know what he was signing up for!

Zipper seemed to innately know about his close brush with being sold, and vowed to be the best canine friend a little boy could ever want.

He was even nice to the mail carrier!

It felt like only a few days, but soon it was time for Nicola's toddler transition.

She turned out to be a cute one, but she wasn't a very attentive student.

Mushroom: My bottle! Mine! Grr!

Nicola: Doggie is my bestestest fwiend!
Mushroom: What?! No!

M: On second thought, this isn't so bad.

Serio checked in with his business every opportunity he got. It was running well, expanding smoothly and attracting all sorts of customers.

Jennifer Reamon really thinks something is amiss here.

She was sold a Manx cat to go along with the kitty toy she picked up. Everyone was excited to see an animal friend find a new home!

In order to find people to babysit now that Cassidy had returned to work, Serio had to do some things that didn't make him very proud. Janine was a good friend, but when she misinterpreted the hello hug into something more, Serio didn't correct her right away. He needed to get to the shop, and she might not stick around if he crushed her feelings.

The long walk home from the store gave Serio time to think, at least until he saw the social worker's van pull up. What if Janine knew he wasn't interested and had left? But the social worker wasn't there to take his kids away. She was there to bring him a new one!

Ella Duddledom had an infectious cuteness about her. She was shy but polite at first, and it took her days to start opening up to her new brother.

She made fast friend with Zipper.

And her new little sister, Nicola. They played together all the time.

Late Saturday night, and who appeared in a puff of snow? It's Father Christmas!

Fittest Santa ever.

He dropped off a pricey gift: a new stereo. Both Ella and Brandon love music and dance, so this was just perfect for them.

Move over, Cesar Milan! Ella Duddledom is the dog whisperer in this town!

Ella had a strange glitch where her motives remained at 90% or better, regardless of activity. Even using SimBlender to drain her of energy last a couple of Sim minutes. Then she'd recover like it never even happened. She took advantage of this to study cooking.

No one was bothered when Cassidy gave birth to the next baby while naked in the bathroom. Fingers crossed that Brandon doesn't turn into the creepy guy who stares all the time.

The newest member of the family was another girl, Rosemund Livingston. So far, she looks like a nice blend of her parents' genetics.

Duddledom's Darlings - Rank 4

I think I unlocked a non-playable owned community lot sometime during this week, but I've forgotten my own rule on that. Whoops.

I don't know how I'm going to fit six kids in this house. It's cramped already. But I love these adoptive children. They're so adorable!

Next up is Coraline Charming. Remember her? Yeah, it's been a while.

I think adopting kids is a perfect way to fulfill the six kids want!

It sure helps a lot, that's for sure! I like the super-secret surprise genetics, too. So far, I've been very lucky.

I noticed just now that you have Serio in your game :) Duddledom's Darlings is great name for business and that cow behind the desk... well, that's fantastic! I need to read your BACC updates from the beginning, great entertainment for holidays ;)

Aw, I thought I had done the link/pingback thing on his first rotation. Hope you approve of his new home!

I love his pet shop, and I'm fond of the cow mascot costume, too. This was the perfect excuse to use it.

Enjoy! I need to get caught up on so many BaCCs, and your uberhood updates.

I'd love to see more of their home, maybe a short house tour..? :) You don't have to, though. I like what I see already. I'm drooling over this wooden floor. Do you happen to remember wcif it? :) I'd appreciate it!
I love the cow costume so much that I actually went to download it for my game, inspired by your update. ;)

I really like their home, too, so maybe I will do a tour. I might also upload it, since I'm quite proud of the building itself. This will also give me an excuse to add a jungle gym for the kids, now that I'm thinking about it.

I had the game loaded, waiting in the background, and it was a present for Nymphy from Beckersbe. It may have been a Christmas in July, though. It wasn't this year's Secret Santas, though. There are a few varieties of it, and it's super cheap, so I use it a lot.

Aw! I'm flattered.
Maranatahmaranatah on December 28th, 2011 01:23 am (UTC)
Hmm, I can't seem to find Beckersbe at all from GoS :P Also searched every SS and Christmas in July-thread and no luck. I'll just have to settle for drooling over your pictures ;)

I think the trouble you had in finding them was because I gave you the wrong name and I inverted the gifter/giftee. So, I did a little digging and I think I've found the post:

It was a gift from Nymphy to Backerbse. The preview pic shows another floor style in the set.

Thank you!

Brandon and Zipper seemed to be fast friends from the start. I notice they are often together the first few pictures of Brandon in his new home. Adorable.

Adopting some of the children is a good idea to help reach the ten children want. I really like the mixed family. Might have to bunk up some kids together to fit them all in the house though. :)

Cassidy giving birth while naked in the bathroom seems a bit awkward. But at least she isn't breaking tradition of bathroom birthing in the game. ;p

I like Serio's pet shop. Rather amusing ideas for work uniforms!

Oh, you're right! I have trouble telling Zipper and Mushroom apart. They really are a cute duo.

Cassidy & Serio actually want to marry off six children. Still, a bunch of kids. Brandon and Ella are bunking together for now, so that Nicola doesn't wake them with her crying. I may have to move the parents out the master bedroom, into one of the smaller 4x5 rooms. The kids will love their extra play space, though.

Cassidy seemed keen on a "natural" childbirth, it seems! I snickered when she did that - it reminded me of the Whittons. It must be hardcoded into the game. "Find smallest, most awkward space possible to do major life events, especially giving birth or dying."

Thanks! I'm loving it so far. Still needs to be stocked, and it also needs a couple of more employees. *cackles at evil uniform ideas*

So many kids, and pets! But they are all rather adorable :)

Thank you! There's more kids to come, and my head is spinning as it is!

You are right, there are lots of things going on this round! I'm amazed at your (or Brandon's) sucess with the lemonade stand. My sims never seem to make it work. I am so jealous of your Santa!
untidyfanuntidyfan on December 27th, 2011 11:48 pm (UTC)
I was shocked by Brandon's success, too. Usually the only patrons of the lemonade stands are the kids' parents, and then I usually have to coax them into visiting. I may ignore the random aspiration rules and go ahead and give him a Fortune aspiration.

Santa sure was nice, wasn't he? I'm surprised by how skinny he was, though. I may poke around for a fat Santa default replacement.

This little family is really neat. Getting to those six kids will be much easier and quicker with adopting.
untidyfanuntidyfan on December 27th, 2011 11:50 pm (UTC)
Thank you! They're my second favorite in New Jennerica, after the Charmings. I love a positive, loving family.

You're right, adopting is so much easier! I get to skip the messy diapers and toilet training and head right into the fun years. Plus, the older they are, the sooner they can help with the other kids.
