BaCC: The Valjean Family, A Miserable Sims Challenge, Week Six

Jennifer the police officer: Um, excuse me. Hi. Could you stop for a second?

J: This absolutely unacceptable. You cannot have... such... boobs. Erm... uh... Anyway, I'm fining you!

Meanwhile, Victor is outside jumping rope, oblivious to his wife's misdeeds and police harassment.

Kaylynn: Muhahaha! I remembered to lock the front door this time. Nothing can go wrong now!

K: Oh, yeah! Nothing can go wrong at all.

K: Wait... (smile starts to fade) Something smells... burnt.

Kaylynn proceeds to kermit-flail after realizing there's no fire alarm.

She finally gets a grip and extinguishes the fire. The counterfeiting machine is moved to the back yard.

And the family doesn't really need the money that badly, since Victor keeps getting promoted at work.

An increasingly pregnant Kaylynn starts tinkering to make toy robots and other mechanical goodies.

The next day...

Kaylynn: Why hello, short, strange little black and white kitty. Aren't you cute?

Kaylynn: I want to pet your puffy widdle tail. Yes I do. Yes I do!
Skunk: Listen, I don't know what you think, but you'd better just leave me alone.

Skunk: Lady, I told you to BACK OFF!

After resting up and cleaning up, Kaylynn tries to start dinner. Fortunately, she hadn't quite made it to the stove-top when she went into labor.

Meet wee Victory Valjean. She looks a lot like her papa.

Kaylynn and Victor start work on a back-up heir.

Nery tries to be a nice guy, but Victor just won't have anything to do with it.

But at least he's nice when it comes to helping out with Victory.

The Valjeans set up a shop in their front lawn to sell knick-knacks and have generally bad customer relations. You can score points by having "as many red stars as possible." I don't really know what the minimum is for that. One per customer? Customers who completely hate your shop? I don't know.

But as you can see, I totally forgot that I was supposed to make the customers hate the Miserable Sim Shop and carried on business as usual.

Eventually, I tried to make up for my earlier good job by having Kaylynn prank customers, try to hire people she doesn't know, and influence negative actions. I got two red stars. Failure is hard!

Gretchen and Kevin just don't get along.

I took that to be the perfect sign that Kaylynn should influence them to kiss. Ten points!

K: Good food, manipulating friends, scoring points in a Miserable Sims challenge. All is right in the world.

Victor must have read some legacies over my break, because he started doing the "creepy bed lurk while spouse is sleeping" bit.

Kaylynn finally remembers to test the toy robot.

K: Oops. Back to the tinkering bench with this idea!

Victor couldn't resist playing with it either.

Then it was time for dinner and a birthday. Victory will soon be able to contribute to the score.

She grows up to be quite a cutie-patootie.

Victory: MAAAaaaAAAMMMAAAA! I hate this toy!

One of the many reasons I play with the sound off.

Toddlers score five points if they throw a tantrum. I assume this counts, because before Kaylynn could scoop her up for the crib immediately after her hissy fit, Victory passed out.

Five points for playing in the toilet.

Even when the family starts climbing out of the squalor, I'm keeping that rat beside the toilet.

A rare father-son journey to the fridge. Victor stays busy with skilling and work.

I had no idea the CleanBots could suck up baby bottles, so I believe more Sims will be buying them. I'm hoping this one will malfunction. 15 points, easy-peasy.

Previous points accumulated: 185
Points accumulated this week: 125
Total points accumulated: 310

This was a slower week than I had hoped for with the challenge. My goal was to have 150 points of terrible to occur with each week. But with so many Sims, maybe things will pick up when the babies get older.
I'm feeling: busybusy

I don't think I've ever heard of this challenge before! It is the kind of thing that would either be awesome or drive me crazy. I fail at making my sims miserable. XD

It's a pretty awesome challenge to me. I have to check the rules constantly to find points to earn - there's a bunch for each expansion pack. I never really tried making bad things happen before, but it's a lot of fun to see them struggle. Strangely, their aspiration is still always pretty high. :/

It's wonderful to see an update :D

Your doing really well with the challenge, I don't think I could do it though, I micromanage my sims for success lol!
untidyfanuntidyfan on December 8th, 2011 02:23 am (UTC)
Thanks! It's great to be able to play again. I'm also the type to micromanage for happy lives, but it's neat to turn it around. Plus, once the challenge is over, they'll be well rewarded.

Very amusing week though! I like how Kaylynn's keeping it classy by running her lawn business in her PJs. ;D

Victory turned out adorable! It will be interesting to see how their son fairs (which I think I may have missed noticing his name?).

This seems like a fun challenge to play with. And I too think you should keep the bathroom rat. ;p
untidyfanuntidyfan on December 8th, 2011 02:26 am (UTC)
It really is a top-notch establishment, isn't it? Kaylynn spent almost the entire week in her pajamas. I don't blame her, though.

Victory is a cutie. I think the little boy, Kayson, will turn out exactly the same as her, since I forgot to roll the dice before playing the household again. And you're right, I didn't mention his name. Everyone should be able to read my mind! (So glad people can't. Then they'd find out why I hate fanny packs and bald guys, and my obsession with gnomes.)

Edited to add: I might move the bathroom rat to one of those TS3 conversion cages by Zx_ta. I like him a lot, too!

I don't really blame her either. At least she is comfortable.

Kayson is a nice name. I quite like it. And now I'm curious as to why you don't like fanny packs and bald guys and your obsessions with gnomes. ;D

That is a cute idea. Almost as if the rat has been caught and made into a pet!

Ha, I had no idea the counterfeiting machine was flammable! I also loved that Kaylynn stayed in PJs basically the entire time. If you're going to be miserable, might as well wear an elastic waist!
untidyfanuntidyfan on December 8th, 2011 02:30 am (UTC)
It really is. I remember when I first got University, I had a Sim churn away at it, and eventually the Sim caught fire as well as most of the furnishings in the room. The price of crime, eh?

And so true about the PJs! I'd do the same if I were stuck in this challenge.

Valjean family! I think I need to try this challenge, it looks like a lot of fun. :D

Victory looks like she's an interesting combination of her parents, so her brother should turn out just as interesting. :3 Oh Sims genetics, you never cease to interest me.
untidyfanuntidyfan on December 8th, 2011 02:33 am (UTC)
Do it! Find a Simmy that irks you. It makes it so much better. It's why I chose Kaylynn - in this neighborhood, she was not playing nicely with my other Sims.

Unfortunately, I forgot to roll the dice before Kaylynn gave birth, so he's going to look a lot like his sister. Oh, well! I think there's another bun in the oven. I'm hoping for a super pale redhead with big blue eyes - that would be a great combo.
bacc_krowbacc_krow on December 11th, 2011 12:38 am (UTC)
Well, I do have a lot in my 'hood that would suit the style of the challenge quite nicely. Now I just need a sim, muhuhuhuhu. >:3

I hope child #3 turns out that way, that'd be awesome. C:

This challenge is pretty crazy - very entertaining though. It might be nice to try just to do something different since I always give my sims happy lives.
Victory is adorable and she does look a lot like her dad. Her name is cute too.
I was so happy to see you posting about your BaCC, by the way. I have missed it. :)
untidyfanuntidyfan on December 8th, 2011 02:35 am (UTC)
It really is a nice change of pace. I'm curious to see the aftermath once the challenge is over (and exactly how miserable they'll have to be to get to 2,000 points.)

I like the naming scheme for their kids so far. I hope by the time Victory is an adult, she'll have seen victory over the challenge.

Thank you! I need to catch up on Canterbury Cove, too!
selenaq13selenaq13 on December 7th, 2011 01:55 am (UTC)
LOL, She got off easy with a fine!
untidyfanuntidyfan on December 8th, 2011 02:41 am (UTC)
That's so true. And it was a small fine, something like §500. Not much at all. This challenge makes me wish it was more like real life, where she'd at least have her machine taken away and maybe spend some time away from the lot at "jail."

Loved it! It seems like a very fun challenge, something different to normal gameplay. Not everyone should be extremely successful and rich after all.
