BaCC: The Cohen Family, Week Six, DITFT boringness

Ah, the quiet life of a farming family!

First thing Monday morning, Rally tended his garden and maximized his nature enthusiasm.

In between his weeding rounds, he made time to help teach his daughter to walk.

Then it was Annette's birthday, and Mommy did the honors.

There was another birthday in the household; wee Wilhelm would be a toddler in just a few moments.

Michelle Cohen was feeling depressed. She spent hours watching television and told her husband it was because she was a "cineophile." TV just made it easier for her to ignore the fact that she was a broke fortune Sim without a career.

Rally was spraying his crop one evening when a bit of the pesticide got caught in this throat. He felt strange as the cloud of fumes engulfed him. After his coughing fit, he went to the kitchen for a glass of water. That's when he noticed he had turned into a PlantSim.

Annette brought a friend home after her first day of school. She thought it would be great fun to have a water balloon fight, but Lori wasn't pleased and thought Annette was pranking her.

Annette wasn't all bad. She helped her father out in the garden, spraying poisonous chemicals.

Now that he was a PlantSim, Rally spent his time basking in the sunshine and plucking petals off daisies.

He also taught Wilhelm to talk while Michelle typed up screenplays.

On Saturday, Wilhelm had his next birthday. Everyone was thrilled and hoped he would lead an exciting life.*

The family spent Sunday fishing in the backyard.

After nightfall, Annette and Wilhelm played chess together.

Playables: 40
Commercial lots: 14
College fund: $51,711
Population: 160 (SM=4)

Crops grown: Tomatoes, cucumbers, pole beans, strawberries, peppers, eggplants, apples, lemons, oranges
Fish caught: boot, largemouth bass, jumbo catfish, rainbow trout, catfish, jumbo rainbow trout, jumbo largemouth bass, golden trout
Badges earned: Gold gardening badge, silver fishing badge

* Namely, me. This has been the most yawn-tastic week in New Jennerica.

Despite all this, the next generation needs to have a bad relationship with their parents, and I can't bear to make them hate one another.

One last objective to complete: gold fishing badge.
I'm feeling: boredbored

A child witnessing an affair is one way to deteriorate the relationship, so perhaps something like that? It could aid you in getting the ball rolling for gen 2. :3

Oooo. That beats scolding or arguing with the child any day. Thanks for the suggestion!

It is SO HARD to make the farming generation interesting! Either they're poor and going OHNOES or they're growing things. That said, YAY KIDLETS. :D

It is! I didn't think it would be this boring, but it is. I love the kids' big brown eyes. I'm glad they're going to be rebels, too. Maybe that will be more interesting. :/

Thank you! The eyes are Sarhra edits, by an_nas or by kinemortophobia. Thanks for reading this very boring chapter, too!

I don't mind boring farming updates! Poor Michelle though, not too exciting for a career woman...

I'm glad! I feel so sorry for Michelle, too. I had hoped that she would get a bakery, but they're so broke. There's always next week!

Why do I love farming families so much? Because they get to do what I'll probably never get to! They grow veggies, fruits and fish <3 and they still have a television :)

It would be awesome to be a farmer nowadays, wouldn't it? The only thing stopping me is my tremendous brown thumb. Well, you know, that and money, but mostly my plant killing skills.

Not sure why but I always like families that garden and live off the land. I think it makes things a bit more challenging. :)

Wilhelm had quite the cheekbones! But he is still rather cute, as is Annette. You do have some interesting genetics in your game.

Huzzah! Plant sim! :D Now that makes the whole gardening thing oh so much easier.

I like this family to play, but it's hard to make planting, weeding, and harvesting, rinse and repeat interesting.

He does! I think he got them from Rally, but I'm sure they'll smooth when he gets older. And thanks! I love the kids' brown eyes.

Now that Rally's a PlantSim, he spends a lot of his nights talking to his plants for company. The crops are all mouthwatering thanks to his need for lots of chatter.

Over the last few days I've been reading your BaCC, and I love it. All families are nice and fun in their own way. I especialy like the drama in the Fisker family. And I really want to do some challenges in my BaCC now. I already wanted to do a Prosperity Challenge and Toddler Mania, and now I want to add a DITFT too. There isn't happening much this week, but I really like the Cohen family. :3 Annette and Wilhelm are so cute. <3

Aw, thanks! I've got to get caught up with yours, but it's on the top of the to-read list. The DITFT challenge adds a nice layer to a growing city aspect of a Build A City Challenge, I think. I've looked into the Toddler Mania challenge and it's looks like a tough one! A great way to build up your Sim multiplier though. Good luck with it!
