A tour
This is what I've been doing instead of writing the McCormick update. Well, this and downloading more goodies and reading others' blogs.

The newest Jennerica must be pretty unlucky to be stuck in such a dilapidated shack. What did he or she do to deserve this?

Derelict houuuuuuuuuuse. They're so much fun to build. :C Bonus points because it's Friday the 13th, which is an excellent day for all things abandoned and grungy. :D

They are a lot of fun - I don't know why I insist on giving most of my Sims nice things now. I didn't even realize it was Friday the 13th! Pretty awesome timing, then.

I think I might end up having a (small/tiny) business district that is full of clubs/pubs/bars and a few apartment-style semi-derelict/really messed up buildings.
It would be a lot like a part of town not too far from where I live: the area is full of nightclubs for youth with too much money and either people very low on the socio-economic ranks, or entirely homeless.
There's heaps of neighbourhood deco around could be used for that sort of thing, and it gives me an excuse to make loads of grungy buildings. 8D Fun for everyone!

Well, not every part of town can be the good part. We've got similar districts where I live IRL, too, with plenty of college kids and homeless people mingling.

I think a little part of New Jennerica will be set aside for low income, but as it is, this house is situated on the main road into town, next to the graveyard.

Hurrah for zoning!

I meant to ask but forgot - are you going to do that "roll a number a day" thing, for renovating it?
untidyfanuntidyfan on May 15th, 2011 10:08 pm (UTC)
Oh, no, I completely forgot about it when I played this week. I plan on keeping the household so low on funds, anyway, that I'll have to be stingy about improvements.
bacc_krowbacc_krow on May 15th, 2011 11:27 pm (UTC)
Oooh, they're already played through. 8D That means an update! *grabby hands*

Oh nice! I really like starting out some of my sims in run down sort of houses. I'm really quite curious as to who will be living here. :D
untidyfanuntidyfan on May 14th, 2011 11:22 pm (UTC)
It is a cheap way to start out. I think this Sim will be making improvements to the home for a while. I can't wait to post the update - it's been really fun to play this Sim's week.

Making improvements to the house while playing is a lot of fun, I think. Makes your sim really work for those nicer things. I sort of did that with the Whittons when they finally got their first house. Another sort of mini challenge within your original one. I look forward to seeing more pictures and stories from Jennerica! :D
untidyfanuntidyfan on May 15th, 2011 10:09 pm (UTC)
It feels a lot more costly, too, which is awesome since they seem to stockpile money quickly.

O.o The Whittons get a home, eh? Can't wait to see that!

This is so wonderful dilapidated!
untidyfanuntidyfan on May 15th, 2011 12:02 am (UTC)
Thank you! It's a little outside my normal style, but definitely a lot of fun to build.

"Nice" house! XD
I really like the pic with the candle and the leaves ;)
untidyfanuntidyfan on May 15th, 2011 12:03 am (UTC)
Ha, thanks! Isn't that pile of leaves just the saddest place to have to sleep? At least there's a roof...

Grungly delicious! So detailed what with the stain on the kitchen ceiling and broken light!
untidyfanuntidyfan on May 15th, 2011 12:26 am (UTC)
Thank you! The kitchen ceiling stain was an afterthought. After all, what rundown shack has a snow white ceiling?

How fun and grungy! I love it :P
untidyfanuntidyfan on May 15th, 2011 12:27 am (UTC)
Thank you! I've played the Sim who lives here for a sim week, and the household proves to be good fun, too!
olivethegreatolivethegreat on May 14th, 2011 08:42 pm (UTC)
That house is awesome. I can't wait to see how it will work its way into the neighborhood. :)
untidyfanuntidyfan on May 15th, 2011 12:28 am (UTC)
Thanks! I can't wait to start sharing the owner's life and how the Sim mingles in the neighborhood. The household is a start of things to come - da da dun...
