BACC: The Charming Family, Week Five
This has been an OMG! week in New Jennerica, for realsies, and I've only played two households. Yes, it even caused me to write like a ditzy fourteen-year-old.

Allegra started us off like she did last week, by hamming it up for the camera.

Carena is a lot like her mom. Her OTH is sports, but she continually rolls up wants to make pottery.

Troy and Annwn visit their shops and increase them each by one rank. They've maxed out their wholesale rewards, so now they're cashing in.

Last rotation, I found that if a cashier wasn't assigned to the registers, playable Sims from other households couldn't purchase items when they visited. I had to hire a cashier for each lot.

I'm starting to scope out the potential spouses for the girls. Carena seems mildly interested in Talin.

Don't look so enthused, new cashier.

Coraline is heart-farting over Talin Deppiesse (or however you spell it) that her sister, Carena, already expressed some interest in earlier.

No harm in getting to know him, or in selling him a toy at a reasonable price.

"This can all be yours if you buy your very own new toy robot!"

Danni and Cliffy are besties. It's so sweet now that I'm playing a BaCC. Before, I didn't care at all who they made friends with.

Troy decided to spy on the neighbors but saw the cops headed his way instead. Across the street is just the graveyard which is completely devoid of graves, so nobody really interesting to spy on.

It wasn't a complaint from the undead neighbors that brought out the police. It was Piggy, the newest member of the Charming family. Carena rolled up the want to become best friends with two pets. The easiest way would be to adopt. I was hoping for a male so there could be a litter of kittens, but Piggy, an elder with a name too funny to resist, appeared in the adoption pool.

She's much more destructive than Allegra.

Allegra handled the new family member pretty well. She just insisted on attention a little more.

Miss Piggy, on the other hand...

Annwn kept wanting to paint masterpieces. I didn't want to stop her.

I was busy attending to other Sims' needs when the game slowed down. I figured it was a new stray spawning, but then these appeared over their heads.

Hattie had been abducted.

She had rolled the want to enter the science career track, and she had maxed science enthusiasm and just needed to earn that final skill point. Big whoops.

She was surprised to hear the lullaby, but I wasn't. Darn InTeen. I was hoping to enjoy the household shrink, not grow larger. She's a Family Sim, otherwise I would have done something about the problem.

She was so upset that she was abducted that she turned around and...

Autonomously went back to stargazing! IMP!

The next morning, Hattie missed the bus.

Annwn was out in the garden, finally sowing the spring seeds.

I'd like to imagine they shared a little mother-daughter talk about the birds and the bees and the pollination technicians.

In a way, I feel a little sorry for Hattie, because it wasn't her choice. She didn't fall in love or even have her first kiss and do something rash or irresponsible. She just got abducted.

Oh, look, plants!

I really don't understand why this gadget won't water harvestable plants. That's why I had Troy make it.

Danni has turned out to be quite popular with the kids in the neighborhood. I hope she's a Popularity Sim.

Hattie went into work so she could keep the lab assistant job she worked so hard to earn. A bad chance card got her fired her first day.

The first playable to become an elder.

He finally gets a makeover so that we can see his face. He's not such a bad looking elder.

Hattie's first pop sent her straight to the clothing shop. Poor thing, she looks enormous.

Since she's now considered an "independent adult" or whatever by InTeen, chemistry bolts will appear when she flirts with an adult or older. Don't worry, she's not going to rush things.

She was heart-farting over this guy, so I had to see what all her fuss was about. Three bolts, that's what.

Yes, Juan, you really flirted with a pregnant Lolita.

I still love Hattie's looks.

Coraline's birthday! Unfortunately, she won't be able to move out until Sunday.

Yuck! This will never do! Fortunately, Hattie picked up some adult clothes while she was at the store.

In old Jennerica, it was mandatory for Sims to retire once they became elders. Not so in New Jennerica. If the career track is unlocked or is available to individual Sims once they met requirements, they get to stay in the position. This is good news for Troy. He might reach his LTW of becoming a mad scientist.

Coraline went to the clothing shop just to check out the spouse pool. She chatted up this employee, but she isn't his type. He prefers people who can grow a beard but not boobs.

Annwn finally earned her gold gardening badge, and can talk to trees. Now if she'd just become a plantsim.

Second pop + a couple of hours.

At least someone is excited about the incoming baby.

Annwn's birthday! I have the Simlogical age hack, and the adult stage is set to 35 days. It doesn't affect townies who are already adults, so essentially, Troy was a little older than Annwn.

I'm glad she became an elder before her grandchild was born. I'm also glad I had Coraline pick up some elder clothes while she was at the shop.

Danni's birthday was also that night. She grew up to be another pretty Popularity Sim. She wants to be a media magnate, but she'll have to settle for something else, instead.

Annwn really needed a makeover.

Early in the morning of the next day, Lori Charming was born. Her crib is staying in the twins' room.

An orange tree had been planted to keep the apple tree company.

Danni and the other girls wind up taking the most care of Lori.

I hate how hard it is to turn this things off when they malfunction.

At 11:30 pm on Sunday night, Coraline Charming moved to her own apartment. Her family only gave her §3,743 to start her adult life.

Playables: 23
Commercial lots: 5
College fund: $19017 (Once Carena and Danni or Hattie are out of the house, the household will be making a big donation to the college fund)
Population: 69 (SM=3)

Household owned businesses: New Jennerican Grocery Store (rank 8), Bytes and Bots (Rank 4)

Aw, poor Hattie. :C At least she's a Family Sim, so she's better suited to it than other sims might be. Hopefully she'll still get to find her way in the world, and do the things she should get to do as a young person. Does Lori have a different skintone to the other aliens, or is it just the colour that the infants have?
untidyfanuntidyfan on May 1st, 2011 01:31 am (UTC)
I know! Poor Hattie, already getting started on a family. She and Carena don't have much longer as teens, but I hope I can get her and Lori set up in a nice home with a good guy.

You know, I was a little confused by the tonal differences, too, and thought I was just imagining them. I use Pooklet's My Poor Lover alien default, which is a bit more bluish than the Maxis default, but it doesn't seem like the other aliens (which I have so many of now) are that blue. Glad it's not just me who was seeing that.

Interesting. I guess we'll have to wait and see what Lori is like as a toddler and child and such, it will probably even out once she's older.
untidyfanuntidyfan on May 1st, 2011 02:50 pm (UTC)
It probably will. It may be that it just looks condensed on her little body.
Attic Box: darkeratticbox on May 1st, 2011 01:18 am (UTC)
While I feel sorry for Hattie and her unexpected pregnancy, it is often fun to have these little surprises happen in the game. :) It will be interesting to see Lori as she ages.

I adore both Allegra and Piggy. I would not have been able to pass up adopting a pet with that name either. Very amusing.
untidyfanuntidyfan on May 1st, 2011 01:34 am (UTC)
It was definitely a surprise. I'm glad she was able to see the pregnancy through, and that she has such a big family to help her care for little Lori.

Piggy reminds me a little of Icky, but she's not quite determined as Icky or as hell-bent on a piece of furniture. I'm sad she's an elder and doesn't have much longer to live, though. May have to invest in some Kibble of Life.
Katekatee412 on May 1st, 2011 10:40 am (UTC)
Poor Hattie, but as it's been said, if it was going to happen to any aspiration, as a family sim she'll make the most of it. And it's good to see her family is helping out :D
untidyfanuntidyfan on May 1st, 2011 02:54 pm (UTC)
I know she'll treasure little Lori. This big family is a great asset, too, because it's more hands to help out while Hattie is at school and work.
Deeasaria_deea on May 1st, 2011 04:07 pm (UTC)
Awww what a cute update, but poor Hattie. I'm sure she'll be a good mum, though ;)
I can't wait to see how Lori grows up :D
untidyfanuntidyfan on May 2nd, 2011 03:58 am (UTC)
Thank you! I'm sure Hattie will come through this like a champ, and Lori will have all the advantages of any other child.

Odd that you have to have someone hired for them to be able to buy stuff, it works fine in my game. But I do have hopeless business owners that think cleaning the toilet is more important than take care of customers... eventually they will come to the cash register.

And fortunately when you control a sim they will just stand there and wait. No tantrums.

Fastest routine is to hop over to the stuff I want my sim to buy and line up at the register first thing.
Because then the business owner hasnt too many other things to do. And not too many other sims in the shop they (owners) can blabb with.

So. Will Carena have a pottery shop since shes so into it? I must admit I like her a lot (apart from the freckled skin..Im not a fan of the freckle skin).

Also..Is that a camoflage coloured toy robot I see?? I want!...if its not a default replacement that is.

untidyfanuntidyfan on May 2nd, 2011 04:14 am (UTC)
Maybe I'm just not patient enough to wait. It seems like they'll stand there forever, ignoring the line that's forming. It's weird, though, because the clothing shop has a cashier, and yet the owner, Shelby, took over ringing people up.

Carena might just have a pottery shop. Popularity Sims seem to thrive with a personal business.

The robot recolor isn't camouflage, but it almost looks like it if you're not zoomed in. It's a great recolor set anyway (not default replacements.) It's by Nissun at MTS. I highly recommend it.
(Anonymous) on May 4th, 2011 05:25 am (UTC)
Thank you! Im always surprised when MTS still have nice goodies that I havent downloaded yet...

And yes, patience is a virtue ;)
I have had the pleasure of the long neverending queue, before my new instant-buy routine, but no more. It is a bit dull to just run up to the food/clothes/anything stand and grab the purchase and run to the register, but otherwise the queue will form and mould will begin to grow on your precious sim.
It seems like the priority goes something like
1 sale interaction
2 restock
3 clean up
and lastly man the register.
It probably isnt that way. But thats what it feels like.

untidyfanuntidyfan on May 4th, 2011 03:29 pm (UTC)
I think it's an item worth being featured, but I think it was missed somehow.

That's exactly what it feels like! I wonder if those hacked check-out points work for playable Sims visiting lots? I don't know... hiring a cashier solution works, too. I'll spare my dl folder from one hack for now.
olivethegreatolivethegreat on May 1st, 2011 05:48 pm (UTC)
I did not expect Hattie's little predicament at all! I'm sure that Lori will be adorable, however. I love alien babies. :)
Also, Annwn and Troy look great as elders.
And Piggy made me giggle haha.
untidyfanuntidyfan on May 2nd, 2011 04:19 am (UTC)
I wasn't either! I hope Lori gets some of her mother's facial structures.

Thank you for the compliment about Annwn and Troy. I tend to ignore elders, so this BaCC is kicking me out of another rut.

I'm not sure if you read atticbox's legacy, but if you like Piggy you'll love Icky Whitton.
olivethegreatolivethegreat on May 2nd, 2011 11:13 pm (UTC)
No I haven't, I'll have to check it out!
Simlilisimlili on May 8th, 2011 07:42 pm (UTC)
Aww, the lonely apple tree has found a companion ♥

(I have to assign a cashier too, if I want to shop in my playable owned businesses.)

Hattie's life is quite... not boring :D It makes me want to install inteen even more than I already wanted after reading katee412 's BACC. Too bad I don't have your dedication with my own game and it will probably linger for months on some misplaced "to do" list XD
Jennerica, on the contrary, is quite the example!

Oh and I love Piggy :) I love it when the adopted pet turns out to be an elder, and you say goodbye to all your breeding and pet career dreams. It's so cute to feed them to be aristocratic and useless, just like IRL ^^
untidyfanuntidyfan on May 9th, 2011 05:46 pm (UTC)
So it's not just me, then, about the cashier. That's kind of a relief.

I'd recommend installing InTeen, but there are all sorts of conflicts possible. So if you're up to working those out, do it! It's totally worth it.

I love Miss Piggy, too. She's more active than her younger counterpart, Allegra, so she does all sorts of cute things.

Thanks for reading!
