BACC: The Fisker Family, Week Four

I couldn't believe it was happening again. It was too soon! I had just been searching the sky for UFOs, hoping to identify a familiar disc, when I was abducted again.

What were they trying to accomplish? Would they hurt my baby? Before I could even contemplate any more possibilities, I was absorbed into the ship.

The saucer returned not long after sunrise.

Those thoughtless green jerks threw me out onto the pavement just as they had last time. Didn't they care that I was pregnant?! With their baby?!?!

Once again, Craig was ecstatic I had met the aliens, but Arik was wringing his hands with worry.

I was okay. I didn't lose the baby, fortunately, but I was starving.

Luckily Cliffy slept through most of my absence.

Arik checked on his business on Monday night.

In an effort to make the lot more profitable, Arik added a poker table. People seemed to love it because his business achieved rank one that night.

Craig became obsessed with meeting aliens. Night after night, he searched the skies for the disc shaped ships and he shined his light at every star. It was almost as if... he was jealous.

A couple of mangy old dogs started hanging around the house. They'd dig holes, wallow in the dirt, knock over and eat out of our trash cans, and just behave like a general nuisance.

They were the only thing to distract Craig from his near obsession.

I went into labor sometime Tuesday morning.

Craig was too preoccupied with his books to come and support me, but Arik ran to my side.

He wasn't much help but it was nice to have someone there to worry for me anyway. The labor was easier than with Clifford, and soon I was holding my baby girl Alexa in my hands.

I handed Alexa to Arik and asked him to take care of her for a while. There was something I had to do.

I gave myself a makeover. I had been feeling a bit generic for some days now, so I thought a change would help lift my spirits. Arik gave me a warm hug when he saw my new style and whispered that I looked lovely.

If only Craig would notice me like Arik does.

Clifford's birthday was celebrated by only Clifford and me.

He looks more and more like his father every passing day.

I just hope Cliffy turns out to be more attentive than him.

Clifford is a happy child, always playing pretend.

Craig's search for UFOs was going terribly. I told to him that no matter what you do, you could only be abducted when using the more powerful telescope, and the odds were against that. Three alien abductions in one family? Never going to happen. To prove my point, I was searching for UFOs using the cheap telescope and a flashlight. Next thing I knew, I had been abducted again.1

The leader of the pack growled ominously at me. I couldn't be sure, but I think he was staring at my belly. I hope that isn't a sign I'm preggers again. I can't handle any more children.

Craig eventually adopted Baby. He didn't consult either Arik or me before doing so. He's either very selfish or very thoughtless. I'm leaning toward thoughtless.

To make up for his brash pet adoption, Craig took care of Alexa in the morning. It was a welcome relief, because I was exhibiting all the early symptoms of pregnancy.

Craig's first day of school was a good one. He told me he didn't learn much but he did have a lot of fun making new acquaintances.

That evening was Alexa's birthday. There wasn't much of a party, just Arik, Cliiffy, and me blowing out the candles with her. Craig had to work late that night.

Alexa didn't look much like me, but she was just as smart.

After he got off work, Craig took a quick shower and went straight to his damn telescope.

And that night, Craig finally got his wish. He was abducted. He'd ought to shut up and be happy now.

But he looked frightened before he flew through the air into the spaceship.

Craig's tête-à-tête with the aliens didn't change him at all. He kept his nose in his books while I had to mop up after his dog.

Baby was good with the children, I must admit. She would calmly sniff them and let them squeeze and mishandle her without growling or biting.

I just had to laugh when Craig started having morning sickness. He didn't understand what a toll having a baby takes on a Sim when I was pregnant.

Cliffy brought home Danni Charming one afternoon, and they've been fast friends ever since.

Arik went on one date with this girl and she visits every night, tiptoeing as though no one can see her.

Danni was becoming a fixture around the house. When Cliffy had chores to do, she would amuse herself with little Alexa, color at the activity table, or just watch TV. Troy always came to collect her at roughly 6:30 each night. Once she was on her way, he'd spend time with Craig or me, talking about ongoing projects at the lab or his latest astronomical findings. He was fascinated with our abduction stories.

Cliffy was a good big brother to Alexa. They played peek-a-boo together and he never badly frightened or startled Alexa.

Friday morning I gave birth to my second alien child.

I gazed into his inky black eyes and decided to name him Troy. Troy Charming had become such a good friend to us in the past weeks that I thought it appropriate to honor him.2

The next morning, Craig went into labor. I tried to be supportive but it is incredibly distressing to see a man give birth.

The baby received a more traditional alien name: Orion. Craig cuddled him close and told him that he was so glad to finally have a son he could be proud of.3

Poor Cliffy.

Clifford turned out to be a neat child despite the influence of his parents. And regardless of whatever his obtuse father said about him, I was proud to have such a clever, well-behaved boy.

Craig went off to work early Sunday morning and I was glad he was gone. Arik was his usual self: flirty, funny and irresistible. After he finished his predictable dirty joke about the plumbbob and the gypsy, I suggested we go to his room4.

Just before closing his eyes, Arik whispered "Gretchen, I'm in love with you."

Clifford unwittingly stalled his father long enough for Arik and I to get out of bed and get dressed. I hope Cliffy never finds out what I did to his father, or what his father said to Orion.

Sunday night had two birthdays to celebrate. Craig helped with both of the kids.

Lastly, little Troy grew up. I hope he'll be a pleasant reflection on his namesake.

Stats:
Playables: 15
Commercial lots: 3
College fund: $6837
Population: 30 (sim multiplier = 2) Huzzah! A spot in the criminal career is available!
Arik's Bandstand - Rank 1

Notes:
1 I was curious if "summon aliens" worked on the cheap telescope. Guess what. It does.
2 The random name generator spits out three names, and one of them was Troy. I thought it would be nice to use it since Troy Charming was practically living there.
3 Craig pays a lot more attention to Orion than he ever did to Clifford. A little creative license, if you will.
4 These two managed to avoid each other almost all week. I gave in Sunday and let Arik tell her a dirty joke, and they run off to his bedroom before I know it. Thanks, ACR! The subsequent action had little hearts floating over their heads, so the "I love you" bit wasn't too far afield.

Now for a quick personality breakdown.
Clifford: 2/3/9/10/9, Sagittarius, OTH is Nature.
Alexa: 10/5/10/10/0, Cancer
Troy: 0/10/0/7/10, Libra, OTH is Arts & Crafts

Craig... You bother me... *twitches*

Once again, a nice addition to the story :) Seems like these guys have more kids than they can shake a stick at already, eh?

Can't wait to read more~ :D

Craig is a bit of absentee father, and his neglect for Clifford was really surprising to me. Usually knowledge Sims love teaching toddlers. I don't think he changed a single diaper for Clifford, but he's up to two with Orion. And naturally, he swoops in and helps with all the birthdays.

I'm still hoping Arik and Gretchen will reproduce, just one kid. But I'll probably let ACR decide that, because it feels like too many kids right now.

Thanks for reading!

Those Aliens have an odd concept of prenatal care. Perhaps they were just checking out how it works with women ;)

I like your theory! Mine was it was a quick check-up, but what sort of physician would treat a patient like that?

Ah, a wonderfully interesting update. I was wondering if things might turn a bit different with Arik and Gretchen. I must admit that I kind of like them as a couple. Sometimes romance sims surprise you and wind up being rather taken with a particular sim, even happily falling in love with them.

Vastly amusing whoops with the cheap telescope. I bet you never thought when starting out with a romance sim that his household would eventually have so many kids. Although I do feel rather sorry for poor Clifford. He is sort of the odd one out and yet such a good kid.

I'm really looking forward to your next play through this household.

Thank you! I'm torn about Arik and Gretchen. On one hand, I hope they'll do the happily ever after thing, on the other, what will I do with Craig if they did? But Arik has been a surprise. Maybe he's a family Sim in disguise...

You're right: I never expected the Fisker home to have so many children! I feel sorry for Clifford because he's the eldest and a non-alien, too. Once he becomes a teen (next update? I can't say for sure), he'll probably be saddled with helping out with the youngsters. He's already entertaining little sister. If the dice lands right for him, I have a few ideas of how to make it up to him.

Oh Craig, you silly fellow. :C You better be good to Orion.

Arik's getting a bit of a track record for hooking up with married women, lol. At least you can blame ACR this time around! Heh. What's their chemistry, out of interest?

And! Three alien babies in the house. Fun times. 8D
untidyfanuntidyfan on April 25th, 2011 04:47 pm (UTC)
I think he will be. Orion's "special," being an alien and all of that.

Weeell, Shelby wasn't exactly married, but she is living with someone. Gretchen and Arik have three bolts, but Arik does have that extra chemistry boost now.

Lol. "Committed women," then. XD

I can't wait to see the alien kids grown up, it'll be interesting to see how different they are to each other. :3
untidyfanuntidyfan on April 27th, 2011 08:10 pm (UTC)
Exactly! Committed women.
I'm excited about the kids, too!

Oh Craig. =( He just seems somewhat immature I think. He doesn't really understand his responsibilities.
untidyfanuntidyfan on April 25th, 2011 08:48 pm (UTC)
That's true. He's very preoccupied with studying and stargazing and work. I feel like he just doesn't think about what he should focus on.

Poor Cliffy, I really feel bad for him :( But I hope things will get better for him.

Wow for all those abductions!
untidyfanuntidyfan on April 28th, 2011 12:21 pm (UTC)
I think Cliffy's life will get better, for sure. He may have to wait until he gets out of his parent's house, though.

I know! I didn't mean for all of the them to happen.
Simlilisimlili on April 29th, 2011 04:30 pm (UTC)
I'm glad to see it's not just in my game: I've having so many abductions, lately, that I was wondering if some kind of unwanted hack hadn't made his way into my Downloads folder :s
untidyfanuntidyfan on April 29th, 2011 09:06 pm (UTC)
I think it's just a combination of Freetime maxed Science enthusiasm and the lifetime aspiration benefits. Used to be pretty tough to get your Sims abducted, though.

Indeed, but I didn't install FT recently. I guess it's just chance, like when all the households start having twins in a row.
