BACC: The Fisker Family, Week Two
When the Charming family purchased the New Jennerican Grocery, a new CAS was earned.
This is that Sim's story.

Almost everything in New Jennerica is determined by a random number generator. I've even got an app on my Droid to get numbers without having to minimize my game. A couple of days ago I was stuck at work on the phone with tech support for TWO HOURS. Needless to say, I was incredibly bored. So I got my phone and worked on my next Sim's stats and for aspiration, I rolled a three. I had no idea what that translated to. But when I opened my game and started working on him, I found out he was a Romance Sim. I hate Romance Sims. They don't marry and the males don't have whoops! babies. That sucks for a new city.

But I forged ahead, and Arik Fisker is what was created. Based on his personality (1/10/9/1/4), I was certain he was going to be a sports fanatic. I was wrong. He's a music & dance lover.

I'm following the BACC rules and some of the tweaks listed here. One suggestion was to roll a die (or use a random number generator) to determine the starting funds. I did this with Arik, hoping for a decent enough amount to get started. He got $29,000. To offset this too-large sum, I built him the shell of a bigger, family-style home (like he's going to have a huge family. /sarcasm.) This is the exterior before I got a couple of window expansion sets.

It didn't take long for the ladies to start coming by to check me out. The first girl was Lilly Do. She was kind of hot, but it turns out the are plenty of girls in New Jennerica that look just like her.

Which was good, because she played hard to get. I'm a straightforward kind of guy. I don't like having to figure out some "rules" that the girl will just ignore for Mr. Right. If she's looking for him, she's looking in the wrong place with me. I'm never going to settle down.

I couldn't have been happier when the "welcome wagon" showed up. It was made up of my neighbor, Troy Charming, a cute girl named Kaylynn Spitzig, and old ponytailed guy. I forget his name, but I doubt we'll ever be good friends.

I thought Kaylynn and I were hitting it off. We tried to play catch in the street, but ponytailed guy and Lilly kept getting in our way. I love a tomboy, though.

Eventually Kaylynn and I gave up trying to play ball. I decided to grill some hotdogs for my new friends. Lucky for me, I didn't burn the whole place down doing it. New Jennerica doesn't have a fire department yet.

After lunch I let my intentions be known to Kaylynn. She was fairly nice about telling me she wasn't interested. She's a Family Sim, looking for a guy to settle down and have kids with. At least she didn't pretend, but it still hurts to be rejected.

Of course, that didn't stop me from checking her out when we were smustling. I can appreciate a nice butt if it's jumping in my face, right?

Smustling on the lawn is a great way to meet people. They'll introduce themselves quickly and then jump right in. The girl in the pink dress is Lyndsay Louie. Finally, a girl who wasn't a cookie cutter!

While I left my friends outside to smustle, I moved the table and chairs inside and cleaned up. I really hate to clean. I need to find a roommate who is a neat freak, and find one fast.

Then I went back outside. When Lyndsay took a break from dancing, I let her know how awesome it is to meet a girl with a little individuality. She can take a compliment. And a bit of flirting ;)

I thought after Kaylynn saw my smustling skills she would be more interested. Wrong.

After everyone had left, I fixed myself a toaster pastry before I went to bed. This meal wasn't so successful; I wound up burning it. But at least I didn't start a fire.

I went to bed at seven a.m. on Tuesday. I hope the rest of my days are just like this one: full of new people and good times.

Tuesday afternoon I woke up to discover a jar full of dead butterflies. One of my guests must have caught them and forgot to let them go before they left. Poor things.

Before I got the chance to get rid of them, a new girl walked by. Even with that ponytail all the girls seemed to love, she was hot. We spoke for a minute before she had to leave to finish her errands. I'll definitely be calling her for a date.

I set my bass up on the lawn so I could play for passers-by (and maybe even get some cash!) I hope to start a bar where bands could perform here in New Jennerica, but the bankers in SimCity say I'll need at least 20,000 simoleons to get it started.

A guy walked past while I was playing. He seemed like he would make a good roommate - he looked neat and organized, at least. I stopped playing and introduced myself.

Craig Ray turned out to be really nice, too! He gave me a $3,500 television. I wound up selling it so I could save for the club. He was even understanding about that.

I invited Craig to stay for dinner, and then Gretchen came in on her way home from errands. I thought we were having a great time getting to know each other.

Then I saw Craig flirting with Gretchen. She's not my girlfriend or anything like that, but the situation left me torn. On the one hand, I wanted to get to know Craig better and have him move in, on the other, I wanted to get to know Gretchen much better, if you know what I mean.

I let it go for a little while and just spent time talking with them both.

But I couldn't help myself after Craig left. I told her the worst thing I could think to say about a Sim: "Craig has block feet." She just giggled and lightly smacked me on the shoulder. I hope she doesn't notice my block feet.

I guess it worked though, because we got to know each other a lot better after that.

And you know what? She's got block feet, too. And you know what else? I don't mind one bit.

We had a really good time that night. She's such a great Sim.

She told me she couldn't wait to see me again and that she was going to tell all her friends about me. Word of mouth is the best sort of advertising, right?

I must not have been thinking too clearly after she left, because I set a fire when I was trying to grill hot dogs.

Thank goodness I was able to put it out without too much trouble.

Gretchen dropped an extravagant "thank you" gift off later that night. I sold it and added $5,800 to my club savings fund.

The next day I asked the mailwoman on a date.

She must have been playing hooky, because the mail was still delivered.

Mailgirl came right over. I told her a little bit about myself.

We flirted...

and danced, but not much more than that. The chemistry just wasn't that high between us.

The next couple of days were fairly uneventful.

I bought a guitar and a drum kit with some of my savings for the club. There's a 20% tax on money in the bank, so I wanted to reduce the amount of cash on hand but still have it used for things for the club.

I tried out the guitar that night. After the dog came up and howled along with my playing, I realized I should stick to the bass.

The next day, Friday, rolled around and I invited Craig to move in with me. He wasn't as wealthy as I thought, but he was still generous with what he had.

All he wanted to do, though, was spend time with Gretchen. He didn't even ask if it was cool with me if she came over for a date.

I did my best to ignore them, but all they did was snog on the lawn right in front of me.

I have to hand it to Craig. For a knowledge Sim, he's pretty smooth with the ladies.

So I shouldn't have been surprised at all when he invited Gretchen upstairs. But I was. And strangely, I was a little upset, too. I don't want to think about what happened. But we're grown-ups, and I'm a romance Sim. It shouldn't bother me.

It bothered me. So much so that I set another fire. Not on purpose. Just wasn't paying attention, I guess.

Craig proposed to her the next day.

And then married her the next. He didn't even tell me about it.

I had to find out by the card attached to the flowers on our doorstep. Any flowers that are left outside are usually for me. But the note was signed, "Your wife!!!! Gretchen." I felt like I was punched in the stomach.

I've never been happier for a week to be over in my life.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

End of week stats:
Playables: 8
Commerical lots: 1 (grrr...)
College fund: $2477
Population: 16 (playables x sim multiplier of 2)

Fires: 2 (Hooray! Only one more before a law enforcement position opens!)

Notes:
Did I mention how much I hate romance Sims?

Arik has turned out to be really interesting to play, once I figured out what I was going to do with him. I thought for a second I'd have him live with a woman, never to marry, but it didn't trip my trigger. But a roomie was a great solution. Male, to prevent any romantic entanglements. At least I hoped it would.

Craig walked by and when he gave Arik the networking gift, I thought "Perfect!" Then Arik invited Gretchen over and ACR created a little problem. I've never seen townie-on-townie flirting action before. I probably just didn't pay attention.

Then Arik started rolling up wants to marry Gretchen while he was on dates with other women. Arik and Gretchen aren't even in love (a miracle I don't know how I managed with ACR installed.)

Craig and Gretchen have the exact same personality (2/3/9/7/4) but not the same LTW. Gretchen wants to be a mad scientist whereas Craig wants to be a criminal mastermind. Their predestined hobbies are different as well. Gretchen is into nature, Craig likes sports.

The blockfeet disease! Arrgh its a plague! :D
Also were have you found a fix for that insane "Hi Craig (says Craig to x)you seem like blah blah blah"?
And 2 fires! You are soo lucky.
And wow, your college funds gather so quick!

I have most of Pescado's director's cut installed, and I think that included a fix for some of the dumber glitches.

I take 20% out of their bank account every Thursday after bills. I've been selling off all the things he's gotten for dates, networking prizes, and anything he's dug up. I wanted Arik to get such an expensive lot, so it hurt to take the funds from him. But hey, that means a college that much sooner, right?

Jeeze. Romance sims are really great at producing drama, at least. I wonder how things will go with Gretchen in the house when she likes them both.

I guess I should appreciate Romance sims for keeping things interesting. This in-house love triangle isn't so bad, because I have the "no jealousy unless in committed relationship" bit. So Arik isn't constantly mad, which he shouldn't be.

This was quite the interesting update and I do like the creative manner in which you've dealt with having a male romance sim.

Like you, I don't usually like romance sims but I kind of like Arik's story. Rather neat how things played out between him and Gretchen and then with Craig. Always a bit surprising when a romance sim seems to actually become attached to someone and rolling wants to marry her? Wow. I can't help but wonder how these relationships will play out further on with all three of them in the house together.

The block feet parts made me laugh. A clever joke. ;)

Also, huzzah for finally getting a few fires and that they didn't manage to become raging infernos. hah.

This challenge looks fun and I'm quite enjoying following along with the growth of your town.

It is really strange that Arik is rolling up wants to marry Gretchen. Perhaps he secretly wants to be a family Sim as his secondary. Hmm... But that would be up to the randomizer, I suppose.

I was thrilled when he was able to put out the fires without losing anything. I had Annwn study fire safety at the other house as a just-in-case measure, but she never started a fire.

I'm glad you're enjoying this. It is a lot of fun to play.

Look at me, I'm late to the party! 8D

I love the room mate idea. :C That is really rather clever.

Thanks! I couldn't let a household go kidless this early on, so I had to do something. If Arik had been a woman, I could have handled it by having not-so-whoops!babies. But the situation has created a bit of drama.

Lol, drama out the ears! I'm gearing up for a population boom in Krow, so no moar kidless households here. 8|

Great update! At first, I was all oh noes, first person.. but I was wrong, it works and the captions are really funny. Can we laugh at sexy Arik getting pwnd by a townie? :p
I still hope there will be an Arik/Gretchen offspring *crosses fingers*

Yeah, sometimes first person leaves me a little :{

I'm hoping for Arik/Gretchen babies too! Imagine the cute!
